KOHAT: On the second day of his election campaign the President of the Council Muslim League, Mian Mumtaz Daultana said here that “the people of Pakistan will not tolerate a dictator again”. He was speaking at a public meeting of over 15,000 this afternoon [Feb 4].
He said that Ayub Khan ruled Pakistan as a dictator for more than 11 years without hindrance and acted as a complete dictator but the Pakistani nation when felt conscious of its powers threw away the yoke of autocracy and dictatorship within eleven weeks and in future they will not tolerate a dictator for even 11 days. ...
Mr Daultana paid glowing tributes to the Pathans who, he said, had been great patriots and without whose patriotism Pakistan could not be established. He referred to the referendum of 1946-47 and observed that “the referendum had sealed the fate of Anglo-Hindu Samraj in Muslim majority areas of undivided India”.
Mian Sahib said besides Pathans, the Bengalis, Sindhis, Baluchs and Panjabis had contributed their full might towards the realisation of the biggest Muslim State’s dream and it was certain that any citizen should not be described as a traitor or an enemy of Pakistan.
