MULTAN: A meeting to implement directions of Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed (he issued during his recent visit) was held here on Thursday in the committee room of the Lahore High Court, Multan bench.
Senior judge Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan presided over the meeting which was also attended by the commissioner, DC, heads of Parks and Horticulture Authority and Multan Solid Waste Management Company.
During his visit, the chief justice had expressed his dissatisfaction over the condition of city roads and parks and issued directions for their improvement.
Addressing the meeting, Justice Khan said that the condition of parks should be improved in the light of the directions of the chief justice while plantation should be done and streetlights be made functional. He said that a comprehensive strategy should be devised to stop the cutting of mango trees while shady trees should be planted in parks.
Citing the case of Shah Shams Park, Justice Khan directed that all the parks of the city should be upgraded. He said encroachments along roads and markets should be removed.
Giving a time frame of two months, Justice Khan said that all the tasks should be completed before the next visit of the chief justice of Pakistan. He directed that recommendations should be sent to authorities concerned for the installation of three incinators in city hospitals. Commissioner Shanul Haq informed the meeting that a comprehensive plan had been devised for streetlights instalation.
He said a proposal for incinators had been sent to the provincial government while direction had been issued to plant trees in the parks.
