LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh on Thursday directed the police to submit within two days report of an inquiry into leak of a letter about provision of security to Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed.

Earlier, the additional IG (legal) told the court that the leak of the letter was a negligence and the responsible would be taken to task.

At this, the chief justice directed the officer to hold an inquiry into the matter and submit report within two days.

Advocate Azhar Siddique had filed a petition pleading that the CJP never demanded security but the Punjab government on its own issued a letter pertaining to provision of security to him.

He said the letter went viral on social media in violation of cyber laws. He said hidden hands behind the move should be exposed and punished accordingly. The lawyer asked the court to direct the Punjab government to fix responsibility and take action against those involved in the leak.

In another case, Chief Justice Sheikh sought a report from the government regarding stock, export and smuggling of wheat and sugar.
