GUJRAT: The local administration has announced Feb 14 as a local holiday in the tehsil in connection with two matches of World Kabbadi Championship scheduled to be held at Zahoor Elahi Stadium.

The matches would be played between Kenya and England, and India and Australia.

The contingents of these four teams will arrive in Gujrat the same day for which strict security measures were being taken by the police and local administration.

A senior official said that the holiday had been announced to ensure security so that students and faculties of educational institutions did not face any hardships. The route of these teams will be decorated with banners, flags of visiting countries as well as portraits of national heroes.

Pakistan Kabbadi Federation President Chaudhry Shafay Hussain is likely to be the chief guest on the occasion. Though the sports department has planned to sell entry tickets for Rs200, but the local administration wanted free entry of spectators.
