LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Zulfiqar Hameed on Sunday visited the Punjab Stadium to review security arrangements for the Kabaddi World Cup.

DIG Operations Rai Babar Saeed and Model Town Superintendent of Police (SP) Ijaz Rasheed briefed him about the security plan.

As many as 5,000 policemen would be deployed in and around the stadium for the tournament. The security officials included 18 SPs, 31 deputy superintendents of police, 76 sub-inspectors and 367 junior officers. Snipers have been deployed on rooftops of buildings and CCTV cameras installed around Punjab Stadium.

CCPO Hameed said Lahore police was committed to promoting international sports in the city. “Glad to see that important events are taking place in Lahore simultaneously,” he said.

He further said the police was preparing a plan for the upcoming Pakistan Super League matches here.

DIG Saeed said that any plan prepared for international events takes special care that citizens suffered the least.
