ISLAMABAD: The capital administration and police have sought assistance of the paramilitary troops for security of foreigner players who will represent PSL franchises and stay and play matches in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Eight matches of PSL are scheduled to be held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from February 27 to March 8.

Officers of the capital administration said security measures and apparatus were demanded by the police for the players, especially foreigners, who will be staying in the capital city.

Rangers and their Quick Response Force along with snipers’ teams have been sought, the officers said. The paramilitary troops along with the local police will provide VIP security cover to the teams. Arrangements are also being made in different hospitals of the capital to meet any emergency on the request of the police.

The Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate will be requested for provision of a fire brigade and ambulances which would be kept at a standby in the hotel where the players would be staying. The Islamabad Traffic Police have been directed to chalk out a route for the movement of the teams between the hotel and the stadium.

On the directives of the capital administration, police in the twin cities are holding meetings to finalise a security plan and furnish to their administrations.
