PESHAWAR, Aug 22: The Peshawar High Court on Monday stayed re-election at polling station No.4 in Union Council No.2 Jahangira in Nowshera district and suspended re-polling orders of returning officer.
The returning officer had set Tuesday for re-polling in the said union council following charges of alleged rigging by the losing candidate.
The division bench comprising Justice Fazl-ur-Rehman Khan and Justice Jehanzeb Rahim, has fixed Aug 30 next for hearing.
Nazim elect Ismail Khan, from Union Council No.2 Jehangira had filed a writ petition against re-polling plea made by the losing candidates Imadadullah and Asim Khan.
Barrister Masood Kausar who appeared on behalf of the petitioner, argued that his client has defeated rival candidates Imdadullah and Asim Khan through fair and transparent balloting.—APP
