RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has said there is no plan to revert back to manual land record system, also known as patwari system.
In response to the news story headlined: ‘Punjab to reintroduce patwari system in province-wide experiment’, published in metro section of Dawn, the spokesperson said that the government had no plan to revive the old system.
“Arazi Record Centres will continue to function as per their existing mandate and the staff will also perform their duties as per routine. Subsequently the computer literate, qualified and well educated human resource will be recruited at village level for the provision of better services,” he said.
He further said the computerised land record system was being extended to village level so that service delivery is provided at doorsteps of the people. This is being piloted in 18 Qanungois of the province and every division of Punjab will have two each.
“The computerised land record services at village level will be provided through existing human resource available with deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners of respective districts and tehsils,” he said.
