MARDAN: The residents of Shah Baig area here on Tuesday demanded of the police high-ups to take action against the SHO of Saddar police station for allegedly supporting their rivals in a land dispute case.

Addressing a press conference here, Nasir said that he and his relatives had purchased a 208-kanal piece of land from Naeem Khan and Aziz Khan in 2016 against Rs91.4 million.

He said that as per agreement, the entire amount was paid to them. He alleged that the landowners were not willing to transfer the piece of land to their names.

He said they were pressurising them through Saddar police station SHO Ashiq Khan to get back possession of the sold land from them.

Nasir said that one of the landowners was a retired inspector general of police and trying to use police against them. He demanded of the chief justice of Peshawar High Court and chief minister to take notice of the issue and provide them justice.

SHO Ashiq Khan, when contacted, said that the allegations levelled against him were baseless.

He said that the landowners had handed over the piece of land to the buyers but they got possession of extra land.

JIRGA: Aman Jirga Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has demanded of the authorities concerned to provide justice to the family members of a young trader, who committed suicide after taking loan on interest.

Syed Kamal Shah, the president of the jirga, along with other office-bearers told a press conference that the trader was harassed by the person from whom he had taken loan.

The family members of the trader were also present on the occasion.

Mr Shah said the trader, Bilal, borrowed Rs 0.2 million from a jeweller on interest for some time. He said that Bilal jumped from Nowshera Bridge into the river to commit suicide on December 5, 2019 after the jeweller harassed him.

He demanded of the authorities to provide protection to family members of the trader and register FIR against the jeweller.

He threatened to hold a demonstration at Charsadda Chowk if the demand was not met within one week.
