A family court in Lahore on Thursday released a decree allowing singer Sanam Marvi to part ways with her husband.
The folk singer had married Hamid Ali in 2009, having three children with him afterwards.
According to her plea, her husband's demeanour changed once they were married.
Marvi had said in her plea for khula that the court should issue a khula decree as her husband had become abusive and violent after they got married.
"I was putting up with his abuse for the sake of my children. It is no longer possible for me to be with my husband," she had said in her plea.
Family Court Judge Sana Afzal gave the decree for khula while Advocate Hamid Maqbool defended Sanam's case.

Sanam Marvi is one of my favorite sufi singer. I wish her all the best in her life and hope she and her children would have a better life. She is such a great talent and it is sad to know that she was stuck in an abusive marriage. stay blessed Sanam Marvi. I wish you keep singing and one day I hear you sing alive.

Who says greenshirt women are not empowered, educated, self-sufficient, independent and liberated in order to do things what they want and which according to them are the best for them and their families?

Very strange, after eleven years marriage and having three children, Marvi decided to divorce her husband. In all marriages, you have ups and downs, but, tolerance, mutual respect, understanding and trust plays an important part to safe a marriage. If both parties have ego and stubbornness then such marriages are doomed to fail and leave a scar in childrens mind for a long time.
(Note: I regularly advocate my impartial views against injustice, inequality, oppression and nepotism without supporting any of the political parties. My family, country and people's well-being are far more important to me than anything else - be aware of fake ID's!).
