LAHORE: The Punjab government’s special committee led by Basharat Raja on Friday heard former premier Nawaz Sharif’s representatives, explaining his health condition and latest medical reports in the backdrop of Mr Sharif’s application for extension in bail.

The three-member committee that includes health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and additional chief secretary (Home) Momin Agha, says it will complete its report within 72 hours.

PML-N Punjab general secretary Ataullah Tarar as well as Mr Sharif’s personal physician Dr Adnan via video-link from London explained former premier’s health conditions and presented fresh medical reports of Mr Sharif.

Mr Raja said the government’s medical board, already constituted, would consider the fresh medical reports. He said the medical board’s opinion as well as Mr Sharif’s representatives’ briefings would be discussed and a report would be prepared. “The special committee will present its final opinion within three to four days,” he said.

Mr Sharif’s personal physician Dr Adnan had earlier shared medical reports twice but the Punjab government’s medical board declared both reports as incomplete. Dr Adnan had, later, written a letter to the Punjab government but the government brushed aside the letter saying it carried no legal value.

Since Mr Sharif’s time period allowed by the Punjab government for treatment abroad has expired, the former premier had applied for extension in bail taking plea that his medical treatment was in process.
