The German embassy hosted the screening of award-winning film Worth at the embassy’s auditorium. The film was organised in collaboration with the Asian Study Group (ASG).

Head of Press and Culture Section of the Embassy of Germany Christine Rosenberger welcomed the audience.

She said: “We are very happy to start with a very special film evening this year, the first film screening of 2020; so far we haven’t screened any short films and we are doing this screening with the ASG, which initiated the idea for this film evening.

Sobiah Becker introduced ASG and said she hoped that they would be able to collaborate with the embassy again. “I thank the embassy for being so open to the idea,” she said.

Set against the backdrop of migration, a single father has planned to give up his newborn son in exchange for money so he can take his daughter to safety across the border.

The film explored the feelings of a parent faced with the choice of saving one child while giving up another.

The screening was followed by a very interesting panel discussion with some of the cast members of the film.
