MARDAN: Police claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender in injured condition at Maday Baba graveyard post here on Sunday.

Officials of Takhtbai police station said that policemen were on routine checking when they signalled two motorcyclists to stop but they opened firing on them and tried to run away.

In retaliatory firing, they claimed, one of the motorcyclists received bullet injuries and was arrested while his accomplice managed to escape.

The officials said that the arrested person was identified as proclaimed offender Maroof, who was wanted in different cases. They said a 30-bore pistol was also recovered from the arrested man.

FUNCTION: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Senator Zeeshan Khanzada has said that the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is spending a significant amount of funds on development of education sector to provide quality education to the students.

Addressing as chief guest at the annual function of Iqra School and College, Hoti, here the other day, he said that private educational institutions were playing a vital role in providing quality education to children in the province.

He asked the students to focus on their studies to be able to face future challenges and play role in development of the country. He said that the PTI government was focusing on girls education as without empowerment of women the goal of progress and development could not be achieved.

In the end, Mr Khanzada gave away prizes to the position-holder students. Parents of the students also attended the function.
