RAWALPINDI: Police arrested a suspect involved in sexually assaulting two boys and later murdering them in the limit of Airport police. The mother of the alleged killer will also be arrested as she knew about her son’s act and advised him to remain silent.

This was revealed by City Police Officer (CPO) Mohammad Ahsan Younas during a press conference at his office on Tuesday.

Areeb Ijaz, 11, was found murdered in a washroom of an under-construction house in Gulzar-i-Quaid on Feb 27 while the body of nine-year-old boy Naveed Khan was found in October last year.

The CPO said soon after the incident came to light, a police team was tasked to trace the culprit. He said the suspect was traced with the help of human intelligence and CCTV footage.

He revealed that the 18-year-old suspect lived in the same area with his uncle and was a junkyard dealer. He said since the two boys were fond of kite flying, the suspect trapped them by buying them kites. After raping the boys, he killed them.

During investigation, the suspect revealed that after killing the boys, he informed his mother but she advised him to remain silent and not to tell anybody.

The CPO said the mother and her son had been visiting the families of the two boys murdered by the suspect and also participated in their funerals.
