PESHAWAR, Aug 25: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday recalled the bail granted to a person by a lower court in an honour-related murder of his former fiancee. A single-judge bench of Chief Justice Tariq Pervez observed that accused Shakir was not entitled to the concession of bail.

The accused was arrested in the court after the court announced the decision.

Shakir was charged with killing his former fiancee, Shahana, in connivance with her father, Ghaffar Ali, as they were annoyed with her contracting marriage of her own free will.

According to prosecution, Shahana fell in love with a neighbour of her fiancé Shakir, named Imtiaz. She eloped with Imtiaz and marriage him.

Six months after the marriage, the families of Ghaffar and Shakir agreed to forgive her. On Aug 28, 2004, Shakir and Ghaffar, along with two unknown persons, entered Imtiaz’s house and allegedly killed Shahana.

An FIR was lodged with the Chamkani police by Imtiaz’s father Islam Gul.

Ghaffar absconded, but Shakir was arrested. Shakir was granted bail by an additional sessions judge on May 27, 2005. Complainant Islam Gul filed an application before the high court seeking cancellation of the bail.
