The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan organised a roundtable session on Kyrgyzstan-Pakistan Partnership for Trade and Investment, during which Ambassador Erik Beishembiev shared successful interactions and cooperation between the two countries over 25 years of bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Beishembiev said that it was a matter of great pride for his country that Pakistan was amongst the first countries to acknowledge its independence.

He also said that both the sides were committed to enhancing the volume of bilateral trade and promoting joint projects in the field of energy, communications, agriculture and tourism.

He highlighted the need to intensify people to people contact and information sharing and increase the visits of businesspeople from both sides.

Centre for Global and Strategic Studies Executive Director retired Lt Col Khalid Taimur Akram gave a detailed presentation regarding opportunities for trade and investment between Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

He said that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan possess regional and global strategic outreach.

Electric wheelchair lift unveiled

The Japanese embassy held a ceremony to unveil an electric wheelchair lift at the consular building to improve access for persons with disabilities.

Ambassador of Japan Matsuda Kuninori inaugurated the lift. Mohammad Shafiqur Rehman, president of the Milestone Society for the Special Persons, was invited as the guest of honour.

Ambassador Kuninori said that the Embassy of Japan is continuing to provide support for people with disabilities in Pakistan.

He said: “Physically handicapped persons deserve more attention and support and Japan will continue helping them to become an active part of the society. We would like to recognise this importance especially Japan is going to host Paralympics 2020 in Tokyo this summer.”

Mr Rehman said that he was delighted as his long-time dream had been realised with the installation of an electric wheelchair lift for physically handicapped people’s barrier free entry inside the consular building.
