MINGORA: Speakers at a seminar said here on Wednesday that people should adopt proper preventive measures to protect themselves from coronavirus.

The seminar titled ‘SARS Coronavirus-2 (COVID-19), Assessment and Preventive Measures’ was organised by the Zoology Department of Postgraduate Jahanzeb College, Saidu Sharif, Swat.

Dr Javed Mohammad, Dr Tariq Khan, Prof Nazir Ahmad, Waqar Ahmad Khan and the college principal Prof Mumtaz Ali Shah spoke at the event, which was attended by the students and teachers.

“People must wash their hands frequently with soap for at least 30 seconds after they have been at public places or after sneezing, coughing and blowing nose,” said Dr Tariq Khan, adding that garbage must be properly disposed of and buried far away from the residential areas.

“The virus mainly spreads from person to person, so keep proper distance from infected people and use mask when they sneeze or cough. One must wash hands with soap after using toilet,” said the other speakers, adding that people must avoid sharing towel.

They advised people to properly cover nose and mouth by wearing masks at public places.

The speakers also answered questions of the students and other participants about coronavirus.

In the end, the college principal and Zoology Department chairman Prof Nazir Ahmad gave away shields to the participants.
