DADU: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Liaquat Ali Jatoi has demanded the federal government and National Accountability Bureau chairman launch investigations into embezzlement of massive amount of funds for the development of several towns in the district.
Jatoi, who was a former Sindh chief minister, said at a local PTI leader’s residence here on Wednesday that condition of roads, streets and drainage system was in a shambles in Johi, Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Dadu towns.
He said that Dadu residents were forced to drink contaminated water that was often mixed with sewage. Work on schemes worth millions of rupees for drainage and water supply had been started but left incomplete though they were shown complete in documents, he said.
He said that Kachho area faced the worst shortage of drinking water. Around five million people living in Kachho were forced to drink polluted water of ponds and drains in Kachho, he said.
He said that water in wells had dropped further down from 100 feet to 150 feet and most of the underground water had become brackish. Fatal diseases had spread among people of Kachho but local elected representatives had left people to fend for themselves, he said.
