SWABI: Former MPA Sardar Ali has decided to join Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, and is expected to make a formal announcement in this connection at a public meeting in the presence of party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Maulana Fazal Ali, JUI-F central deputy head, claimed on Monday that Sardar Ali made the decision during a meeting with him.
Mr Ali was elected as an independent MPA in the 2008 elections, but did not join any party. Earlier, he remained part of Pakistan Peoples Party-Sherpao, now Qaumi Watan Party, but quit it over differences with the leadership over award of tickets.
QUALITY EDUCATION: Leaders of Islamia College Alumni Association on Monday stressed the need for creating an enabling learning environment at the educational institutions to prepare the youngsters to effectively tackle the emerging challenges.
This was stated at a meeting at Yar Hussain presided over by Brig retired Ihsan Khan. The participants said all stakeholders needed to play their part in that regard.
“We are ready to extend cooperation to the government in bettering the education standards,” Imtiaz Ahmad, vice-chairman of the association, said.
The other members said they would impress upon the students about the importance of knowledge and their role in changing the nation’s destiny.
Javid Azam, the association’s general secretary, said the Islamia College’s alumni should play their role in helping the youngsters choose suitable professions.
