ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) has postponed the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship for Men & Women at the Mushaf Squash Complex, Islamabad till September this year due to coronavirus concerns.
The championship was slated to be held during the first week of April. However, because of the global outbreak of COVID-19 the event has now been postponed till September.
“Due to the escalating health and safety issues arising from the global outbreak of COVID-19, subject tournament has been postponed in consultation with the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and government authorities concerned of Pakistan,” said a statement issued by the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF).
The statement further said that revised dates of the tournament would be announced in due course of time. “The PSA has also been approached for rescheduling of the tournament in September timeframe as per the slot available in PSA calendar,” read the PSF statement.
Meanwhile speaking to Dawn, PSF secretary Tahir Sultan said globally over 40 PSA tournaments have been postponed because of COVID-19. “We are in touch with the PSA to hold this [CAS] event in September,” Tahir said.
