SWABI: The district administration has taken action against those who held weddings or other gatherings at their houses and hujras.

“All private ceremonies in homes and closed compounds shall stay banned,” said an order issued by deputy commissioner Shahid Mehmood.

In Bukoo Jhanda village, one Ibrar Hussain had arranged the wedding meal on Saturday, but the officials warned him to avoid gathering of people.

Later, the food was delivered in packets to the village people at their homes.

In Khota village, two brothers Rafiq and Fazal held the wedding party of their sons and daughters despite ban.

“They will face action,” said Topi tehsil DSP Iftikhar Ali.

In addition, barbershops had been closed for 15 days in the district and the barbers were warned that they could face 15-day imprisonment in case of violation.

SDO INJURED: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company sub-divisional officer, Razaar tehsil, was injured in a clash with alleged power defaulters here on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, Pesco executive engineer, Razaar tehsil, said they had gone to Yar Hussain village to disconnect power supply to defaulters.

He said that when Pesco staff tried to cut the power connection to one Bakht Sher he along with his relatives clashed with them.

As a result, the SDO was injured. The Pesco staff, he said, had lodged an FIR in Kalu Khan police station against Bakht Sher and his sons.

KILLED: A man killed his brother over a land dispute in Maneri Bala village on Saturday.

Registering an FIR in Swabi police station, wife of deceased Niaz Mohammad stated her brother-in-law Raz Mohammad forced his way into their house and opened fire on her husband and seven-year-old son.

As a result, Niaz was killed on the spot and his son Yousaf was injured. Police have registered an FIR.
