Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi spoke with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif about the coronavirus pandemic, according to a press release issued by the Foreign Office.

In a phone call, Qureshi expressed "deep concern and sorrow" over the loss of lives due to the pandemic and commended the government and people of Iran for "valiantly combatting" the virus.

Additionally, he shared Pakistan's effort to contain the pandemic and reiterated Prime Minister Imran Khan's call to lift sanctions against Iran.

The foreign minister also spoke to Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Nepalese Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.
