DADU: Renowned literary figure and playwright Abdul Qadir Junejo died from liver disease at his home in Jamshoro on Monday.
Junejo wrote 22 dramas, both in Sindhi and Urdu, for Radio Pakistan and 11 for Pakistan Television. The most popular among them Rani Ji Kahani telecast by PTV was translated in English and Chinese languages. Several of his novels in Sindhi were also translated in Urdu and Punjabi.
Abdul Qadir Junejo, son of a policeman, Murad Hussain Junejo, was born on Sept 13, 1945 in Jinhan, a small village of Tharparkar district.
He had done his graduation and masters from the University of Sindh.
He had served as director of the Institute of Sindhology, Jamshoro, and also headed the Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) from 2005 to 2008.
