KASUR: The B-Division station house officer (SHO) was detained in the lockup of the same police station for selling heroin seized by peddlers, corruption and abuse of power on Monday.

The police said SHO Abid Mahmood seized 2.5kg heroin from three drug pushers a few weeks back but mentioned recovery of 1.4kg contraband in the police record only to favour the suspects. On receiving complaint, District Police Officer Zahid Marwat ordered an inquiry where he was proven guilty.

The DPO suspended him from service and ordered his arrest.

The former SHO was lodged in the lockup of the same police station and a case was registered against him under sections 155- C (if a police officer is found guilty of any wilful breach or neglect of any provision of law) of the Police Order 2002, Section 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code (giving false information to screen offender) and section 9-C of ‘The control of narcotic substances Act 1997’.

Further investigation was underway to find if other cops were selling drugs and protecting drug mafia.
