SWABI: The health department has dropped an inquiry against a doctor of Yar Hussain hospital here, who had put polythene bags on his face and hands for protection against the coronavirus outbreak.

Sources told Dawn on Monday that the inquiry was dropped against Dr Amir on the directives of the provincial health minister.

Earlier, authorities had ordered a ‘’strict disciplinary action’’ against him for allegedly “defaming the health department’’ by wearing polythene bags on his hands and face for protection against the virus.

Photographs uploaded by Dr Amir on social media networks had gone viral, which prompted the health authorities to order an inquiry against him.

COPS GET PROTECTIVE KITS: The army and the district administration on Monday distributed sanitisers, masks and gloves among the policemen manning various checkposts across the district.

Lt-Col Mohammad Umer Farooq, the 186 Wing Commander, district police officer Imran Shahid and deputy commissioner Shahid Mehmood distributed the items.

DC Mehmood said the distribution of coronavirus protective kits, sanitisers, masks and gloves was meant to encourage the policemen in this time of difficulty.

Also, a joint flag march was organised by the police and the security forces in urban and rural areas to prevent unnecessary movement of people.

The army officer also checked the police blockades, the screening process and the people’s data entering the district and quarantined centres.

DPO Imran Shahid issued directives to all the police personnel to perform duties with determination and sincerity according to the instructions of the government.
