SIALKOT: Up to 2,597 people, recently returned from abroad, along with their families have been quarantined in homes in Sialkot district for 28 days as anti-coronavirus treatment.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Nasir Mahmood Bashir said at a meeting of the district administration on Wednesday.

He said 14,000 people (including 2,597 people who recently returned from abroad) have been quarantined in 2,200 houses in urban and rural areas of Sialkot district’s four tehsils – Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur – and their houses were also declared quarantine centres for 28 days.

These houses were also tagged as the quarantine centres jointly by the Sialkot district administration and the Sialkot health department as well.

The DC said the Federal Investigation Agency had provided the list of 2,597 people to the district administration who flew to Pakistan recently from America, Canada, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Iran and other countries.

He said several suspected coronavirus patients were also put in quarantine.

He said the special health teams had started tests of those quarantined people.
