GUJAR KHAN: Four localities in Gujar Khan tehsil were cordoned off by the police after six people from these areas tested positive for Covid-19.

Local authorities have been asked to limit access of citizens to these localities.

Deputy Commissioner (Rawalpindi) retired Capt Anwarul Haq, taking notice of the situation, directed Assistant Commissioner Hira Rizwan to seal entry and exit points of Gasrror, Paleena, Dhoke Parian and Dhoke Kashmirian. Close relatives of a deceased man had been visiting one of the areas frequently after his death.

Ms Rizwan conducted a survey of the area, whichconfirmed that frequent visits from relatives could lead to a cluster of infections. Hence, as a precautionary measure, police limited movement to and from these areas alongwith restricting the movement of residentsoutsideof their homes.

Station House Officer Mian Imran Abbas said police havebeen deployed to ensure surveillance in the area.
