ISLAMABAD, Aug 31: For Pakistan’s top seed Carla Khan, the first POF WISPA squash tournament is proving to be a cakewalk as she swept into the semifinals on Wednesday in a 13-minute stroll at the Jahangir Khan Complex in Wah.
After her 14-minute opening day rout of Muqaddas Ashraf on Tuesday, Carla followed that up with a 9-3, 9-2, 9-3 hammering of England’s Jenna Gates.
In the semifinals on Thursday, she will play Malaysian Delia Arnold who won a tough quarterfinal against her compatriot Lim Yoke Wah.
After being on court for about 40 minutes, Delia was eventually able to thwart the challenge of her opponent winning 3-9, 9-0, 9- 6, 9-4.
Malaysian Tricia Chuah also had to work hard in overpowering Denmark’s Line Hansen 6-9, 9-0, 9-3, 9-6 in a match that lasted 37 minutes.
Tricia’s semifinal will be against another Malaysian Sharon Wee who was involved in the tournament’s first match that went full distance.
Her rival who made her toil was Korean Lee Hai Kyung whom she finally beat 2-9, 5-9, 9-1, 9-0, 9-2 in 37 minutes.
