KARACHI: Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA) president Ghulam Muhammad Khan has announced that an NBA-style basketball league on the line of international basketball leagues will be held in the city from June 30.

Giving details, he said that seven teams of the five district of Karachi will take part in the event while District South will field two teams for the events.

He said that the league was planned after consultation with main sponsors of the league.

“Each team will compete with the other on single league basis. The teams will be selected by selection committee and each team will be provided complete basketball kit,” he said. “The league matches will be played at Karachi Port Trust Sports Complex while the final will be shown directly on TV channels.”

Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani is the chief patron of the league while Deputy Commissioner West will be the chief organiser.

The organising committee will include international player Abdul Nasir, Orgaising Secretary Tariq Hussain, Tournament Commissioner Muhammad Yaqoob, Umpire Zahid Malik, Technical Officer Ashraf Yahya, Media Coordinators Muhammad Arshad, and Fawad Ali Khan as Contact Officer.
