ISLAMABAD: Another case was registered against MAulana Abdul Aziz and few other people on charges of disobeying government orders and delivered anti-state speech at Friday congregation, sources told Dawn.

The case was registered at Aabpara police station against Maulana Aziz and other people under sections 505 (b) and 188.

Earlier, an officials of police deployed at the Lal Masjid for intelligence gathering informed the Aabpara police that the masjid organised Friday congregation, violating the restriction imposed by the capital administration, a police officer told Dawn on condition of anonymity.

Maulana Aziz delivered speech, provoked sentiments of people, he added.

The officials deployed there informed him about the ban on collective prayers, including Friday Prayers, he said, adding he was also asked to avoid delivering such kind of speech, and misuse of loudspeakers but he ignored the instructions.

The officer further said that the FIR was sealed on the directives of the senior officer. No action will be taken against Maulana Aziz until the FIR is unsealed.

Meanwhile, about 150 people were arrested by City Zone Police comprising six police stations on charges of violating precautionary measures.

They were found violating ban on pillion riding, failing to keep social distancing and plying passenger vehicles.

About 40 people were arrested before noon over violations of the ban on pillion riding, they said, adding the number of violators of pillion riding ban increased by evening.
