KHAR: The authorities on Saturday reopened the Bajaur-Peshawar highway after a six-day closure.

The people of Mohmand district had blocked the road over a boundary dispute with the neighbouring Bajaur district.

Assistant commissioner, Nawagai subdivision, Habibullah Khan Wazir told Dawn that the development came after Mohamand police dispersed the protesters.

He said the police first requested the protesters to peacefully disperse, but they refused do so, forcing the police to forcibly disperse them.

He said that the protesters put up resistance and clashed with the police, in which five of them were injured.

Meanwhile, a delegation of elders from the Khyber tribal has accelerated efforts to resolve the border dispute between Bajaur and Mohmand districts through peaceful means.

The delegation led by former MNA Shah Jee Gul Afridi spent a busy day in Bajaur and Mohmand districts on Saturday, meeting with elders to find a peaceful solution to the dispute.
