SWABI, Sept 1: Electricity consumers are receiving inflated bills for a few months and have to run around offices. Once a consumer gets trapped in the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) web then it becomes an uphill task to get out of it. The consumers complain about the hard-to-find SDO concerned in his office and in majority of the cases they visit his office for weeks.

“The bill for July was Rs4,330 but the actual amount due for the month was Rs92 when corrected after repeated visits to the Pesco offices,” Mohammad Farooq of Salim Khan said.

“The same excessive amount was repeated in August and when I again got it corrected it was Rs104.”

One Amir Zada said that he had received a bill of Rs9,495 but the amount due was Rs4,000 when a correction was made in July. Another bill was received in August for Rs5,719 and it was again corrected and the amount due was Rs1,306.

Policeman Afsar Ali who hails from Dagai, said that he had to go to the Pesco officer to get his bill corrected.

He said that his actual bill was Rs1,400 but he had received a bill for Rs2,361 for the month of July and the same excessive amount was repeated in August.
