PESHAWAR: The district administration on Friday sealed two banks and office of a courier agency for failure to implement provincial government’s protective measures against coronavirus on their premises.

Besides, 117 people were arrested for roaming aimlessly in different bazaars in violation of the government decision to ensure social distancing.

According to a statement issued form the deputy commissioner’s office, the banks and courier service office were sealed on the Warsak Road.

The people were picked by raiding parties in areas of University Road, Hayatabad, GT Road, Peshtakhara, Mattani, and different bazaars in the city.

Deputy commissioner Mohammad Ali Asghar asked the citizens to avoid roaming in the bazaars, streets and playing in grounds to ensure their safety. He asked them to extend cooperation to the district administration to help contain Covid-19.

He warned of legal action if the people continued to violate the law. He also asked the traders, managers of banks, other private and public sector offices to implement government’s precautions for public safety.
