MIRAMSHAH: One security man embraced martyrdom while three others received injuries in an attack on a checkpoint in North Waziristan tribal district on Saturday night.

Police said unidentified people attacked the Boya check-post with heavy weapons. Havaldar Akbar was martyred while his three companions received injuries in the exchange of fire with the attackers.

The wounded soldiers have been identified as Saeed, Yasir and Shafqat.

The body of the martyred soldier and the wounded personnel were shifted to a hospital in Miramshah by a helicopter.

The police said the security personnel retaliated after the attack.

After the attack the area was cordoned off and a search operation was conducted. Security forces closed the Haqmzoni-Datakhel road for traffic on Sunday.

In a separate incident also on Saturday night, a woman sustained bullet injuries in firing by unknown persons in Boya area. The wounded woman, Shahzada Bibi, wife of Rahim Din, was shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Miramshah.
