GWADAR: Inspector General of Frontier Corps South Maj Gen Sarfaraz Ali during a visit to the Pak-Iran bordering town of Mand on Monday said the FC was taking all possible measures to maintain peace in the area with the help and cooperation of local people.
During his visit, the IG FC briefed people on the paramilitary force’s efforts to ensure provision of facilities to the people of Mand.
“The Pak-Iran relations put direct impact on people living in bordering towns. Hence, attempts are being made to end difference amid both countries caused by third party,” Major General Sarfaraz Ali said, adding that a request had been made with Chief Minister Jam Kamal to expedite construction on Zubaida Jalal Road, Buleda-Prom Road and the Balnagore Highway on priority.
Talking to locals regarding the communication expansion in the area, the IG FC said: “Local network companies would be persuaded to enhance their network in remote areas of Balochistan because people living in Pak-Iran bordering towns rely on Iranian cellular companies.”
He added that the Covid-19 pandemic and border closure had badly affected local people as business and trade activities were suspended. “Frontier Corps Balochistan has arranged ration for the needy people during the holy month of Ramazan, and tribal elders should assist the FC in registering people who desperately need food items,” Major Gen Sarfaraz Ali said.
He said border fencing was being completed, following a mechanism that would ensure business safety.
Talking about law and order, he said: “The security forces have eliminated all terrorists’ networks in Balochistan but still we need local support in order to fully wipe out people spoiling peace in the province.”
