KARACHI: A 20-year-old man was shot dead while a 24-year-old was wounded in a clash between two groups in Ibrahim Hyderi on Thursday, said police.

They claimed that the two groups fought each other in Ali Akbar Shah Goth near the beach. As a result, Saeedullah and Shahrukh were injured.

They were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced Saeedullah dead on arrival, said Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the hospital.

Area police officer Nazar Mohammed claimed that the deceased had a criminal record as there were two to three cases registered against him. Besides he had also been arrested once.

‘Scaremonger’ held in DHA

Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested an owner of a closed-circuit television camera company, who allegedly created a ‘scare’ in Defence Housing Authority by uploading footage of a robbery in Faisalabad on social media and falsely presenting it as if it had occurred in DHA, Karachi, to persuade them to install CCTV cameras at their residences.

“The owner of the CCTV company has been arrested for maliciously disseminating wrong information, fraudulently using video and creating fear among residents of DHA, phase-VIII,” said the police.

They added that the held owner of the company, Saqib Iftikhar, based on Sunset Boulevard, DHA, had allegedly maliciously attributed the irrelevant video of a petrol pump robbery in Punjab to a petrol pump in phase-VIII, DHA, Karachi, to foment a sense of insecurity among residents.

Darakshan police have registered an FIR (197/2020) against him, said Clifton SP Imran Mirza.
