KHAR: The prayers leaders in Bajaur tribal district on Friday announced to follow precautionary measures during prayers in Ramazan to control the spread of coronavirus in the region.

According to a statement issued by deputy commissioner Mohammad Fayyaz Sherpao, the local clerics and prayer leaders made the announcement during a meeting with Khar subdivision assistant commissioner Fazal Raheem at the main mosque of Khar tehsil.

It added that the AC accompanied by several administration officials and police informed the prayers leaders about the government’s 20-point precautionary measures issued by the President of Pakistan some days ago for mosques in the country during Ramazan.

It said the official briefed the prayers leaders about the safety measures to stop spread of coronavirus in the region. He told the clerics that the country’s well-known religious leaders had not only backed the declaration, but also called for following it to combat Covid-19.

The statement claimed that the prayers leaders agreed to strictly follow the precautionary measures in their respective mosques during Ramazan.

FM RADIO: The Pakhtunkhwa FM Radio, Bajaur, the first provincial government-sponsored radio channel in the entire tribal district, is set to launch its transmission soon.

Fitrat Buneri, in-charge of the FM Radio station established at Bajaur Press Club building some days ago, told mediapersons that work was in progress to make the station functional as soon as possible.

He said the installation of booster (tower) was underway while most of the basic equipment had already been installed at the station. He said test transmissions of the FM Radio station 91-1 was expected to be launched during next few days.

However, he said the radio station would be formally inaugurated by the KP government’s spokesperson Ajmal Wazir. Mr Buneri termed the establishment of radio station imperative to keep the people informed about the government’s policy for the tribal districts.
