The importance of reading

I would like to share my opinion about the article, “The importance of reading” by Muhammad Ibrahim Shafi (YW, April 4, 2020).

Reading is very good for a person’s intellectual growth. It helps a person increase his knowledge. It also helps us to write creative stories. If we need to climb the ladder of success, we need to keep reading.

In this regard, I would like to appreciate Young World magazine for providing us informative material to read. It is also my advice that if we want to be successful, we should read.

Let’s defeat Covid-19

Ever since the World Health Organisation has labelled the coronavirus as a global pandemic, the governments of all countries are expected to bring about policies that will help prevent its spread. Strict measures have been taken all around the world to curtail its spread.

Although the Pakistani government has implemented several policies and taken strict measures, it is seen that the number of cases are growing rapidly, which unfortunately contributes to the increasing death toll. Isolation centres have been established all around the country and people entering the country are kept under observation, in quarantine.

This global pandemic has the potential to wreck developing economies, like ours.

We need to act as a nation and care for ourselves as well as those around us. The government has taken effective measures to contain the outbreak of Covid-19, but their efforts are hampered by the reluctance and stubbornness of the people.

We, as a nation, should adopt prompt precautionary measures so that we can ride out this catastrophe with minimal possible loss and suffering. We need to fortify ourselves for one of the biggest health crisis the planet has ever seen.

Nurture a growth mindset

This is with reference to the article “Nurture a growth mindset,” by Awais N. Bahar in Young World (April 4, 2020).

It was a very informative article that made the reader reflect upon the information shared in it. The concept of different mindsets leading to different personalities is not a novel one, but we hardly pay attention to it.

I believe that more than intelligence, it is a person’s mindset that is responsible for the amount of success and achievements they get in life. We should all try to have a growth mindset to easily get over disappointments and failures, and move with a positive attitude towards growth and self-improvement.
