KARACHI: A teenage boy committed suicide in Korangi’s Bilal Colony on Saturday, the Awami Colony police said.

Shahmir Shah, 18, ended his life by shooting himself in the head inside his home located in Street 5, said area SHO Humayun Ahmed Khan. He added that the motive for the act could not be ascertained immediately. However, a Chippa spokesperson, who shifted the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities, said that the young man committed suicide after a quarrel with his family over some domestic issue.

Six car thieves held

The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) of police on Saturday claimed to have arrested six suspects in the city who have allegedly stolen around 50 cars in Clifton, Defence and other areas and seized a dozen vehicles from their custody.

The held suspects have stolen several vehicles, mostly in district South, which they sold in other parts of Sindh, said AVLC SSP Sarfaraz Nawaz Shaikh.

He said the detained suspects had stolen around 40-50 vehicles in Clifton, Defence, Saddar and other areas of the district during the last six months, which they subsequently sold mostly in Sukkur and Khairpur.

This gang comprises four car-lifters and two purchasers/sellers of stolen vehicles.

They were identified as Azeem Arain, Mohabbat Barejo, Aijaz, Gulshan, Sanaullah Jumani and Saqlain Shah.

The police said that 12 cars, stolen in Darakshan, Saddar and other areas were seized from them. The police also claimed to have seized four pistols from them.
