NEW DELHI, Sept 3: Observing that India-Pakistan ties are improving, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that he and President Musharraf would ensure that the ongoing peace process between the two countries is irreversible.

“Our relations with Pakistan are improving. Both President Musharraf and I have committed our countries to do all that is in our power to make the peace process irreversible,” he said on Friday in his address to the Congress functionaries in Kerala.

Ahead of his meeting with President Musharraf, scheduled for Sept 14 on the margins of UNGA session in New York, the prime minister said “infiltration” into Held Kashmir was already on the decline and expressed the hope that India and Pakistan would work to realize a clear vision of prosperity.

Dr Singh said he was elated that the Hurriyat leaders had agreed for talks, which would help strengthen the peace process, adding that it was essential to ensure that the deprived people reaped the fruits of harmony and development. —APP
