Police officials destroy poppy crop in Mohmand tribal district. — Dawn

GHALANAI: Mohmand police have destroyed poppy crop over 448 kanals in Mount Morbando, Sonde and Tor Tam area of Ambar tehsil of Lower Mohmand tribal district during last two days.

Giving details, DSP Pasham Gul told mediapersons by phone that poppy crop was destroyed over a total of 3,853 kanals during 23-day operation in remote hilly areas of Mohmand tribal district.

He said that during last two days of the operation the police destroyed poppy over 448 kanals. Poppy was destroyed over 175 kanals in Ambar tehsil of Lower Mohmand and 273 kanals in Chengi, Sonde, Tor Tam and Gonde areas of Prang Ghar, Upper tehsil.

SAFETY KITS: A charity organisation distributed face masks and kits to various welfare and social organisations in Ghalanai at Mohmand Press Club on Sunday.

On this occasion, representatives of various organisations and Mohmand Press Club president Gul Mohammad Mohmand were also present. Mr Mohmand thanked Arshad Yousafzai for providing free face masks to people of the area.

Meanwhile, Upper Mohmand assistant commissioner Hamid Iqbal handed over hygiene kits to Mohmand Press Club president Gul Mohammad Mohmand for protection against coronavirus here at the press club. PDMA district coordinator Sheraz Bacha and members of press club were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Iqbal said it was duty of every citizen to take precautionary measures against Covid-19.

He said every person should avoid going to crowded places and markets otherwise the whole area could be affected in case of any negligence.
