FOR the past few months I have been receiving inflated electricity bills from Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco). I received the bill for December 2019 which stated that I had consumed 19 units whereas I was billed Rs52,965.

To add insult to injury, a red watermark printed in the centre of the electricity bill says: “Say no to corruption”. What cheek!

The electricity bill for our house has been increasing steadily since Nov-Dec-2018. The bill for that month was Rs5,164. Since then my power bill has gradually increased every month. When we lodged complaints about the excessive billing, the power utility officials did not respond. Thereafter we lodged numerous complaints but there was no response. Finally after approaching every official and moving heaven and earth, we received from the power utility an adjusted bill of Rs10,000 , which I paid promptly.

The following month the power utility again billed me for consuming 19units. However, the bill I received was for an astonishing Rs57,383! I am at a loss to understand what is going on. The concerned authorities are requested to look into this matter.
