Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor passes away at 67

Top Indian actor Rishi Kapoor, a scion of Bollywood’s most famous Kapoor family, passed way on Thursday. He was 67 and had leukaemia.
According to Hindustan Times, Rishi's brother Randhir Kapoor confirmed the development.
The 67-year-old actor fought a two-year-long battle with leukaemia and passed away at the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai, a statement from the family said.
Rishi was hospitalised in Mumbai on Wednesday and died on Thursday, according to a family statement.
He returned to India last September after undergoing treatment in the United States for almost a year. In May 2019, Rishi had confirmed that he was cancer-free after first being diagnosed with the disease in 2018. He was hospitalised twice in February.
This is the second death to shake the Indian cinema industry this week. Only yesterday actor Irrfan Khan passed away in Mumbai after battling medical complications arising from a colon infection.
Fellow Amar Akbar Anthony actor Amitabh Bachchan tweeted about Rishi's passing:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Rishi was a powerhouse of talent. “I will always recall our interactions, even on social media. He was passionate about films and India’s progress.”
Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also tweeted his condolence:
He received the National Film Award for his debut role as a child artist in his father’s 1970 film Mera Naam Joker. He acted in more than 90 films, including hit films such as Coolie, Laila Majnu, Sargam, and Bol Radha Bol. In the last few years, he was seen in films such as Kapoor and Sons, D-Day, Mulk and 102 Not Out.
The actor had recently announced that he would be part of a Bollywood remake of the Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway's The Intern alongside Deepika Padukone.
His father Raj Kapoor and grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor were doyens of Bollywood, the vast Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai.
His wife, Nitu Singh, co-starred in several of his films. His son Ranbir Kapoor is a current top Bollywood actor.
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Bobby... I was a 12th Grade Student and could get it's ticket even in black market for 6 months. It was a craze. I was embarrassed when my friends would discuss the movie. Later a friend of my got me a ticket with his connection..I feelt so obliged and watched the movie. I fell in screen love with Dimple Kapadia as if I was seeing a girl for the first time. @Aditya Narayan Sar, The Kapoor family basically belong to Samundri near Faisalabad (Lyallpur). The father of Prithvi Raj (grandfather of Rishi Kapoor) Basheshar Nath was a police officer in Peshawar so the family settled in Peshawar.

There is a huge Talent pipeline in Indian film industry today in eight major languages! See Netflix or Amazon prime and you will see atleast 28 top male actors and 23 female actresses who are box office but technically strong with huge fan following ! Amazing what Technology could do and take cinema beyond borders or languages in last six years ! Beyond middleclass a huge market! Look at Trance,Family man,K 3 in Tamil ,Malayalam and Hindi to illustrate. Different,bold themes, unexplored and box office collection with 8+ rating mean Indian cinema is going to be exciting..We are not going to call it Hindi or Regional cinema ..It is entertainment and serious themes like Panchayat with a new superstar like Ayushman Khurana or Jitendra Kumar..Rishi Kapoor was relevant for a different era and generation and was also a great dancer like Sargam..But India has moved on and so are we! Not a big desi movies guy, but I do recall watching a few as a kid, I remember those hideous bellbottoms and Elvis Presley collars, songs were amazing, but the dancing was still bad, I do remember watching fast talking Rishi Kapoor as a young man in his early 20's. Then I read up on Rishi Kapoor years ago, found out he was an amazing human being, got along well with every actor regardless of their faith. Its sad to see all the great actors passing one by one, I will surely miss his silly personality.

Stay home. Stay safe. Stay blessed. Govt should allow to open factories and other business centres in phases to avoid over crowding and inter mingling of labour. More of 'Smart Lock Down' be resorted to so that poor can earn their livelihood. Govt should now plan to increase production and exports. I met Mr. Rishi Kapoor in London many years ago when I was a young man. I very much wanted to meet him again some day. But I could not find the opportunity. And, alas, now it will never be. Like all Kapoor family members, he had a charming personality, but in addition, he was also a very warm, friendly, humble & down-to-earth human being. We shall all miss him dearly.
