RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Post has finalised a plan to fully computerise its pension payment system as per the requirements of all government agencies and extend its scope to other departments.

A senior official of Pakistan Post told Dawn that during the next financial year pensioners will start getting their pension through ATMs. “It is expected that the entire process will be completed in three months.”

He said the director general of Pakistan Post had sought suggestions from experienced officers and staff attached to the pension system to identify flaws and shortcomings in the existing pension distribution system and make it foolproof and transparent.

In the light of the suggestions, the Ministry of Communications was informed of the new proposed project and approval was obtained. In the first phase, ATMs will be installed in all GPOs across the country and later the number of their points will be increased.

A Pakistan Post spokesman said they were currently providing services to 1.3m military pensioners as well as retired employees of PTCL and CDA.
