SUKKUR: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has been asked to appear before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigators in connection with the ongoing investigation into alleged misappropriation of wheat worth billions of rupees.
NAB officials at Sukkur said that Mr Khuhro was required to explain his position and provide details about release of wheat to various stakeholders during the period he had been holding the portfolio of Sindh food minister.
They said the former minister was asked to appear before the NAB officials concerned on Wednesday (May 6).
According to sources in Sukkur NAB, gross irregularities were unearthed during their investigation into the supply of wheat to flour mills twice a year on behalf of the food department.
The investigation also covered supplies on credit/loans and alleged favouritism resorted to by certain stakeholders, they said.
A call-up notice has been served to Mr Khuhro, who is currently Adviser to the Chief Minister on Universities and Boards and president of PPP’s Sindh chapter.
