ISLAMABAD, Sept 5: Attock won an exciting low-scoring match against Chakwal on Monday with a full day to spare in the PCB Inter-district senior cricket championship at the ARL ground in Rawalpindi. After dismissing Chakwal for 142 in 38.2 overs, Attock were precariously placed at 59 for six before Nadeem Sikander (43) and Ikhlaq Ahmed (39) steered them home with an 84-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Earlier, after Chakwal had chosen to bat first, Shaharyar Khan (4-42) and Jameel Khan (3-15) brought them down through tidy bowling.

Islamabad, powered by Ameer Khan’s explosive 127, had Azad Jammu and Kashmir firmly on the back foot at the Diamond Cricket ground where the home side put on 469 for seven in their allotted 90 overs.

Ameer dispatched 12 fours and four sixes in a 131-ball innings. Along with Mohammad Shahzad (73), he shared a 179-run fifth wicket partnership.

At the Army Cricket ground, Rawalpindi finished day one on top after dismissing Jhelum for only 126 in 60.5 overs with Sohail Tanvir (4-30) and Yasim Murtaza (3-28) the chief wreckers.

Rawalpindi were 84 for three in 36 overs.

Afsar bludgeoned an unbeaten 152 to help former champions Zone-III reach 366 for seven in quota of 90 overs against holders Zone-IV at the Pak Star ground. The right-hander hammered 11 fours and five sixes during his 207-ball knock.

Opener Agha Sabir struck eight fours and one six in making 80 and put on 124 for the third-wicket with Afsar.

Tahir, meanwhile, scored 149 as Zone-I piled up 362 in 89.3 overs against Zone-II at the Students Sports ground, Tahir, who hit 16 fours and five sixes, was in involved in a fifth-wicket stand worth 127 with Arif Mahmood (68, nine fours and two sixes).

Slow left-armer Adnan Malik grabbed six for 56 on a responsive TMC ground pitch to bowl out Zone-VI for 231. Shahid Latif (66, nine fours and one six), Fahadullah (54, nine fours and one six) were the main scorers.

By stumps, Zone-V were sitting pretty at 77 for two in 20 overs.

Opener Ashfaq Ahmed then stroked his way to a 70-ball 89 (five fours and three sixes) as North Zone Whites achieved victory in the 30th over by reaching 125 for five.

Shahnawaz Malik (158, 24 fours), Jahangir Mirza (96), Fahadul Haq (83) and Imran Abbas (60) steered East Zone Whites to an imposing 484 against East Zone Blues at the Mughalpura Institute ground. Leg-spinner Sajjad Aziz took six for 168.

Half-centuries by Ali Hussain (88) and Anwaar Hafeez (81) enabled West Zone Whites get 318 for seven against West Zone Blues at the LCCA ground.
