KOHAT: Flash flood in Kohat destroyed standing wheat crop and inundated houses on hundreds of acres from Shahpur to Zra Mela in Jarma area, causing big losses to the farmers and residents.

The harvested bundles of wheat crop were also washed away in the flood.

The farmers tried their best to save them, but the bundles were soaked and rendered useless.

The affected areas included Shahpur, Kalo Banda, Dheri Banda, Kaghazai and Hafizabad.

The gushing water came from Orakzai area which fills the Tanda Dam.

The farmers have urged the deputy commissioner to provide them compensation as their whole financial condition depends on the wheat harvest.
