DADU: Four youths enjoying a cool dip in Kakar Shakh (irrigation channel) near Sita Road (a town) drowned here on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Khan Bahadur, 15, his brothers, Ali Mohammad Lakho, 9, and their two cousins, Abdul Rasool, 14, and Liaquat Ali, 13, all residents of the Railway Crossing locality of the town.

Local divers and the victims’ relatives jumped into the water channel upon receiving information about their drowning and retrieved the bodies.

Dadu SSP Dr Farrukh Raza Malik told local reporters that the bodies were transported to the victims’ respective residences after a post-mortem examination was performed at Sita Road government hospital.

In a separate incident, two persons, Amir and Hussain, both residents of Khanzada Colony of Kotri town, drowned in KB Feeder (water channel) in Jamshoro late on Thursday evening.

Their relatives said they were bathing in the channel to beat the heat but were swept away by strong currents. Their bodies were taken out by local divers.
