GWADAR: Five labourers died after inhaling poisonous gas in a well in the Khuda-i-Abadan area of Panjgur on Saturday.
Police said that two labourers went inside a well for cleaning it. Poisonous gas had accumulated in the well and the two labourers fell unconscious. The four other labourers immediately went inside the well to rescue them, but they also fell unconscious.
After receiving information about the incident, a police party rushed to the site and with the help of rescue workers took the six labourers out of the well. They were taken to the district hospital in Panjgur where doctors pronounced five of them dead. One unconscious labourer was admitted in the hospital.

Very sad. Who was the contractor? Why didn't he use any safety measure to pull the labourers out of the well using ropes or some other mechanism. He should be arrested.

There is no value of poor in our country. There must be a policy or law to protect people entering a confined space.

So sad and so unfortunate . Those who hired these labors should be held accountable. In civilized countries. The owner of the property is responsible for the safety of everyone in their premises. If it’s a public land then person in change would be liable.

Those in charge should have carried out a below ground Gas Safety Check to detect the deficiency of oxygen, poisoning by H2S and CO, and the lower explosion level of combustible gases present. The monitor only costs 40,000 Ruppees (£ 200) and can be used by any simpleton. Pakistan a Nation full of uneducated individuals with Zero Safety
