HYDERABAD: Thirty-eight new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Hyderabad on Tuesday and Wednesday, raising total number of patients to 440 since the pandemic broke out.
The positive cases included two family members of a doctor of Red Crescent Hospital in Latifabad, who died a couple of days back. Health officials obtained samples of his wife, who was also a doctor, and son a day before and they were found to have the contagion on Wednesday.
Two house job officers of Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) city, two doctors and a police constable were also among those who tested positive for the virus.
LARKANA: Twenty-two persons tested positive for the contagion after death toll from the coronavirus in Larkana rose to four on Wednesday, said Covid-19 control room. With the new cases the total number of positive cases rose to 211.
SHIKARPUR: Five more persons out of 175 whose samples were collected a couple of days back tested positive for the virus in the district on Wednesday.
The new cases included two women and three men, raising the number of Covid-19 patients to 160, among them 147 cases of local transmission.
SUKKUR: Four people were found to have the contagion in Kandhkot, increasing number of patients to 26 in Kandhkot-Kashmore district.
Health officials told reporters that samples of 67 persons including traders and employees of different departments were taken and among them four were found to have the virus. One among them is a trader from Kandhkot and three were residents of Karampur.
All the patients were shifted to quarantine centre established in Cadet College Karampur.
DADU: A 65-year-old Covid-19 patient was buried under SOPs in a village in Johi taluka who died on Wednesday.
Head of rapid response team of health department Dr Zulfiqar Khoso, along with two other staffers, supervised the burial under SOPs. Her funeral prayer was held at her ancestral graveyard.
DHO Dr Zahid Hussain Dawachh said that the woman died from coronavirus at Combined Military Hospital Hyderabad where she had been shifted 10 days back after having symptoms of the virus.
He said that the woman’s test was conducted at CMH and he was informed by her relatives and health officials last night that she had tested positive for the contagion.
Unfortunately, she died on Wednesday morning and her body was brought to the village through an ambulance, he said.
Mohammad Chhutal Khoso, son of the woman, told journalists that his brother had admitted her to CMH when she fell ill.
The DHO said that the samples of three other family members of the woman were taken for tests by the rapid response team.
NAWABSHAH: Three persons tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, raising total number of Covid-19 cases in the district to 132.
The three new patients included a technician posted at Qazi Ahmed Rural Health Centre and two residents of Nawabshah city.
